Our Commitment to Care

Sears Family Dentistry focuses on treating their patients like family. The practice has been family owned for over 100 years founded in Jacksonville in 1918 by Dr. Andy W. Sears. His two sons, Dr. Don and Dr. Wally Sears, continued the legacy. Dr. Kane Sears now becomes the third generation dentist and works with his father (Dr. Don) and his mother (Kim) who is a hygienist at the family practice. The team consists of long tenured employees up to 45 years with Sears Family Dentistry. He received his dental degree from University of Florida College of Dentistry & continued his education there with a working post graduate program consisting of 500 hours of continued education. The focus is on overall wellness by creating a healthy oral environment.

Kane Sears D.M.D. , F.A.G.D.

Over 100 years of Sears Dentistry:

Dr. Andy W. Sears graduated from the University of Pacific Dental School in Oregon. This was during World War 1 and Dr. Andy was stationed in Georgia as a dentist in the Army. Once the war ended, he moved to Jacksonville Florida and opened his dental practice downtown. Two of his three sons pursued the same career. Dr. Don Sears (Dr Kane’s father) and Dr. Wally Sears (Dr Kane’s Uncle) graduated from Emory College of Dentistry in Atlanta. Dr. Don was in the Air Force stationed in England for a few years before returning back to Jacksonville to join his brother and father in the family dental practice which they moved to St Nicholas area near Bishop Kenny High School. In the early 1990s, they moved the practice to its current location in Ponte Vedra Beach to better serve the local beach community they live in. There are still many patients that drive from all over town out to the beach to see the Sears Family for their dental work.

And now the torch has been passed to Dr. Kane Sears, who becomes the third generation dentist and still works with his mother, Kim, a hygienist at the family practice. Dr. Kane graduated from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 2016 with honors and being inducted in to the OKU honor society (Omicron Kappa Upsilon, top 12% of graduating class selected based on academic achievement, character, and potential for future professional growth.)

He joined his father in practice and worked together for 4 years before Dr. Don’s retirement. Since then, he has gone back to the University of Florida College of Dentistry and completed the Complete Dental Program. This is a two year post doctorate continued education program consisting of 500 hours of continued education covering all topics, techniques, and research in the dental field. In 2024, Dr. Kane wore a cap and gown one more time receiving his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.

The vision and practice style has remained consistent over the last century. The focus is preventative medicine, patient education, quality work, and ample time spent with each patient to understand oral health and provide better care.

The small quality team consists of long tenured employees of 45, 30, 20, and 5 years.

You will be greeted by Aurora when you walk in the door. You will have your teeth cleaned by Kim, Brenna or Shanna. Lori will be helping Dr. Sears with procedures. And you may even meet a few interns that work at the practice during their predental education at UNF.

Being a part of the community is of upmost importance at Sears Family Dentistry, where you are more than just a patient, but also a friend.
